Powered by solar panels and equipped with Starlink satellite internet, Sycamore Cottage combines off-grid countryside living with modern comforts, including a kitchen with an air fryer.

Perfect for couples, friends and small families, the cottage provides a wonderful base for exploring the quieter western Lake District.

The Property

Sycamore Cottage is a characterful converted barn set in peaceful countryside, away from busy roads and surrounded by beautiful natural scenery.

The two bedrooms and both bathrooms are downstairs, while the entire upper floor features a spacious open-plan kitchen, breakfast bar, dining table and comfortable living room.

The living area opens directly onto a full-length private balcony overlooking the surrounding fells and water.

Bedrooms

Sycamore Cottage accommodates up to four guests across two bedrooms:

• Bedroom One: King-size bed
• Bedroom Two: King-size bed

Fresh bed linen, bath towels and hand towels are supplied for all guests.

Bathrooms

The cottage has two bathrooms, including a main family bathroom and a separate en-suite.

This provides additional convenience and privacy for couples, families and friends travelling together.

Upstairs Open-Plan Living and Kitchen

One of Sycamore Cottage's standout features is its spacious upper floor, bringing together the kitchen, breakfast bar, dining table and comfortable living room.

The kitchen includes an air fryer, providing additional convenience when preparing meals during short breaks and longer stays.

Whether you're cooking together, enjoying breakfast or relaxing after exploring the Lake District, this welcoming open-plan space is the heart of the cottage.

The living area opens directly onto the full-length private balcony.

Please note that internal stairs are required to access the upstairs kitchen, dining area, living room and balcony.

Full-Length Private Balcony

Sycamore Cottage benefits from a beautiful full-length private balcony with outdoor seating and views towards the surrounding fells and water.

Enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the countryside, relax in the fresh air or admire the changing landscape throughout the day.

The balcony is exclusively for Sycamore guests, providing a peaceful and private outdoor space.

Private Rear Garden

Sycamore Cottage also benefits from its own private rear garden with outdoor seating.

It's a lovely space for relaxing outdoors, enjoying the fresh countryside air or spending time together.

Unlike the access route through neighbouring Silverbirch Cottage's garden, Sycamore's own rear garden is private to guests staying at Sycamore.

Guests may bring disposable BBQs for responsible use in the rear garden. BBQs are not supplied.

BBQs must be used on a suitable heat-resistant surface, away from grass, buildings and vegetation, and fully extinguished and disposed of safely.

Solar Power and Starlink Wi-Fi

Sycamore Cottage is off-grid and powered by solar panels, with normal unrestricted electricity usage throughout your stay.

There is no need to limit everyday activities.

Starlink satellite internet provides connectivity for streaming, browsing and remote working.

Speeds may occasionally vary depending on weather or network conditions.

Surrounded by Nature

The surrounding grounds feature woodland, wetlands, open countryside and three ponds, with the River Keekle nearby.

The area attracts a variety of wildlife and birdlife, including deer and occasionally otters.

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but the peaceful surroundings offer wonderful opportunities for photography, birdwatching and enjoying nature.

Walking and Cycling

The Coast to Coast route passes approximately 200 yards from the cottage, making it particularly convenient for walkers and cyclists.

Secure bicycle storage is provided for guests bringing their own bikes.

Exploring the Western Lake District

Ennerdale Water is approximately a 10-minute drive away, offering beautiful mountain scenery and peaceful lakeside walks.

Loweswater can be reached in around 35 minutes, while Crummock Water and Buttermere offer further opportunities for exploring the western fells.

Nearby Longlands Lake is ideal for gentle walks and wildlife watching.

Keswick and Derwentwater offer boat trips, independent shops, restaurants and access to the northern Lake District.

For coastal days out, Whitehaven offers a historic harbour, cafés, restaurants and attractions including The Beacon Museum and The Rum Story.

St Bees provides a beach, sandstone cliffs and scenic coastal walks.

Families can also enjoy Muncaster Castle and the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.

Guest Access

You'll have exclusive use of the entire cottage, including both king-size bedrooms, both bathrooms, the upstairs kitchen and living area, private balcony and private rear garden.

Sycamore is the middle cottage within a small collection of converted barns.

To reach Sycamore Cottage, guests use a designated access route passing through part of neighbouring Silverbirch Cottage's rear garden.

Please be considerate of neighbouring guests when using this route.

Sycamore's own rear garden and balcony remain private and are not used as access routes for neighbouring guests.

Free Private Parking

Ample free private parking is available at Sycamore Cottage, making it convenient for guests travelling by car.

Secure bicycle storage is also provided.

Please follow the arrival and parking instructions carefully due to the rural location.

For Working Professionals

Although Sycamore Cottage is particularly appealing as a countryside retreat, it also provides comfortable accommodation for professionals and colleagues working in West Cumbria.

With two separate king-size bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen with an air fryer, unrestricted electricity, Starlink Wi-Fi and ample private parking, it offers a peaceful alternative to hotel accommodation for short or extended stays.

The location provides access to Sellafield, West Cumberland Hospital, Westlakes Science and Technology Park and other major employers across the region.

Important Rural Information

Sycamore Cottage is surrounded by woodland, wetlands and three ponds.

Children must be supervised around open water, and suitable footwear is recommended when exploring the countryside.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are downstairs, while the kitchen, dining area, living room and balcony are accessed using internal stairs.

Guests must pass through part of neighbouring Silverbirch Cottage's rear garden to reach Sycamore.

Please respect the natural environment and the privacy of neighbouring guests.

The property is off-grid and solar-powered, but normal electricity usage is unrestricted.

Before Your Stay

Guests are required to complete our disclosed pre-arrival requirements, including identity verification and acceptance of our rental agreement.

Security Deposit and Damage Protection

Before check-in, guests are required to choose one of two options:

• A refundable £250 security deposit, processed as a temporary card pre-authorisation. The hold is released following checkout provided no charges are due.

• A £39 non-refundable damage waiver covering up to £250 of qualifying accidental damage, subject to its terms and exclusions.

Both options are arranged securely through our guest portal.

Full check-in instructions are normally provided approximately 24 hours before arrival once all required pre-arrival steps have been completed.
